Woessner sites her mentor, Ann Simonson, as being influential to her work. Since meeting her in New Mexico, Woessner has taken a number of Simonson's workshops in Italy and the Southwest. Working with Simonson, Woessner found her voice and communicated this in her work.  Using oil and pastel Woessner captures the "aah..." she says, when witnessing, "a particular moment in time, be it a landscape, favorite flower, or an interior space." Two years ago Woessner took "the leap" and opened The Blue Door Gallery and Studio in downtown Riverhead, where most mornings you can find her at her easel.
